Climate Adaptation: Oxford Intersections

This online publication, one of the new Oxford Intersections series, will explore who we become, socially and culturally, as our places, livelihoods and communities are reshaped by a changing climate.  Published by Oxford University Press, Climate Adaptation will establish a thought-provoking body of original research drawing from multiple academic disciplines and other knowledge systems including Indigenous scholarship.

We invite expressions of interest from accepted contributors to Adaptation Futures Conference 2025.

Climate Adaptation comprises eleven sections. Each section will be individually curated by section editors, with papers to be submitted from December 2025 through to early 2029.

  1. Indigenous perspectives
  2. Interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary approaches
  3. Adaptation and justice
  4. Learning from the past
  5. Transforming institutions and organisations
  6. Local-scale innovations in climate adaptation
  7. Polycentric collaborations for adaptation
  8. Adaptation in the context of the polycrisis
  9. Climate adaptation and more-than-human life
  10. Narratives of the future
  11. Who might we become?

Your expression of interest should include the title, abstract, authors and a primary contact, and should identify which section/s of Climate Adaptation you consider your proposal best aligns with.

Please send your EoI to General Editor Janet Stephenson janet.stephenson@otago.ac.nz. These will be passed on to the section editors who will make decisions on paper acceptance.
